Tiaha / Hei Toki

The Taiaha is a symbol of tribal faith which keeps the mana or pride strong. A Taiaha is a traditional Māori weapon It is a short fighting staff like weapon made for close quarters combat. Carved from either wood or whalebone, these weapons represent a treasured item.

Hei means “to be worn around the neck”.

Toki/Adze Represents power, wisdom, strength, control, determination, focus and was often displayed by people of authority (māori elders)
