Collection: Pounamu / Greenstone

Pounamu / Greenstone

To the indigenous Māori people of New Zealand like myself, Pounamu is more than just a beautiful stone; it is a sacred taonga (treasure). We believe that Pounamu is imbued with spiritual properties, representing strength, protection, and connection to the land. Being sacred to us we tend to turn to them to keep us grounded, comforted and when gifting a taonga is an amazing sense of overwhelming gratitude. It means the world to that who recieves it.

The gifting of pounamu spans far back in Māori history, and it has long been the belief that as heirlooms are gifted and passed down through generations, they increase in mana (prestige) and carry with them rich histories and stories.
